Spectacular and smogy Sunrise in Utah

Thanks to the US Air Quality blog (aka the Smog Blog) at http://alg.umbc.edu/usaq/, I learned about the smoggy air quality in Utah this week, due to meteorological conditions – a strong increase of temperature with height, keeping pollution trapped in the layer near the ground.

Following the link to the Utah State University web cams, I lucked onto a colorful sunrise on the mountains, with the haze layer showing up in the valley in front of the mountains.
