Heads up for the moon

Moon through 8 inch dobsonian telescope

Photos of the moon this morning before sunrise with my Canon Rebel XS hand-held to the eyepiece of my 8-inch dobsonian telescope.

First quarter moon details, zooming in with a higher power eyepiece and my Canon Rebel.

Note some of the nice features of the ‘zoomed’ photo:  Tycho is the sharper-looking crater on the right.  The Straight Wall is a faint bright line.  And the jumble of craters at the terminator, where the sun is setting on the lunar surface, shows lots of interesting shadows from the crater walls and central peaks.
